The University of Cambridge may soon accept applications for a LEGO professor.
The university’s Reporter recently published news of a £1.5 million grant given to the school by the LEGO Foundation for use towards a Research Centre on Play in Education, Development and Learning. The publication added that a possible LEGO Professorship for £2.5 million has also been proposed, which may lead the University to take applications for a LEGO Professor.
The Reporter explained that the funding arrangements for the professor hip were agreed upon in January by the Resource Management Committee. The goals of the professorship and accompanying Centre will be to conduct research on the role of early childhood development.
The Daily Mail added that the lucky professor chosen for the job will head the research department beginning October. A board of electors will select a candidate whose work falls “within the general field of the title of the office”.
More details will be released in October, according to a University spokesperson.
